John Blair is University Distinguished Professor and Edwin G. Brychta Professor of Biology at Kansas State University, where he leads the NSF-funded Konza Prairie LTER program. Dr. Blair has broad interests in terrestrial ecosystem ecology and global change, including assessing the impacts of climate change and the causes and consequences of land-use/land-cover change in grasslands. Dr. Blair has been involved in regional and national NEON planning since 2000. In addition to leading NEON planning activities in the Prairie Peninsula Domain, he served on the NEON Biogeochemical Cycles Subcommittee and was a member of the Consortium for Regional Ecological Observatories (COREO). He was also an invited participant for the Interagency Ecosystems Working Group for the Climate Change Science Plan and served on the LTER Network Science Conference Committee. Dr. Blair’s research has been supported by approximately $30 million in collaborative grants, and he has published over 80 scholarly articles. He holds BS and MS degrees from Kent State University and a PhD from the University of Georgia.
