Project BudBurst, a NEON citizen science program, has been chosen by SciStarter editors as a "Top Ten Back-to-School Citizen Science Program" and was highlighted on a recent blog. SciStarter has over 600 projects listed on its website, so being called out as a Top Ten pick is great recognition for the project.
In addition, Project BudBurst was chosen by the SciStarter editors as an on-going featured Middle School citizen science project. One of the target audiences for Project BudBurst is the K-12 community. This double recognition by SciStarter indicates that this NEON Education and Public Engagement activity is meeting the needs of K-12 educators.
SciStarter is dedicated to providing access to citizen science programs for people from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. It is a valuable, trusted resource for science students, educators (in classrooms and for home school), scouts, and curious minds alike. SciStarter’s partnership with the National Science Teachers' Association (NSTA) allows them to connect projects to a robust community of educators. SciStarter also partners with Discovery Magazine, PLOS, Science Cheerleaders and other prominent organizations. SciStarter promotes “… a hands-on, face-to-face experience with science [that] enables individuals to learn how to think critically. The merits of engaging in citizen science abound, benefiting both participants and researchers.”
