Ken Bible served on the NEON site review team that visited the Yellowstone and Conservation Research Center candidate sites in 2007. Dr. Bible is Site Director for the Wind River Canopy Crane Research Facility in Skamania County, Washington. The facility expedites forest canopy research by providing canopy access, data, and information to scientists and students interested in better understanding the forest canopy in the context of forest science and forest management. The Wind River facility is a cooperative venture of the University of Washington College of Forest Resources, the USFS Pacific Northwest Research Station, and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Dr. Bible conducts long-term research on the population dynamics of trees and on forest ecosystem productivity. He is also interested in advancing environmental monitoring methods through the application of embedded sensor arrays.
