Catherine E. Burns currently works as the Research Director for WildMetro, an environmental non-profit organization based in New York City, and will join the faculty at the University of Maine (Orono) in Fall, 2007. Dr. Burns is generally interested in understanding the impacts of anthropogenic landscape change on wildlife communities. Her research has focused on the effects of habitat loss on small mammals in Connecticut and New York, and on the effects of historical fire regime on the behavior and distribution of large mammalian herbivores in South African and North American grasslands. She served on NEON core site review teams during Winter/Spring 2007.
