Charlene D'Avanzo

Charlene D’Avanzo is Professor of Ecology and Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, Hampshire College. She has worked nationally on science undergraduate reform efforts, especially with the Ecological Society of America. She is co-editor of TIEE, ESA’s electronic ecology education publication, and serves as the education representative on the LTER Science Task Force Advisory Committee. As a marine ecologist, she studied consequences of nutrient loading to coastal ecosystems and nitrogen ecosystem dynamics. Presently her research focuses on the application of cognitive and learning theory to ecology teaching. She was an original participant in the NEON Design Consortium (Higher Education Subcommittee), and now chairs the Education Tiger Team.
