David Hollinger

David Hollinger is a Plant Physiologist at the USDA Forest Service NE Research Station in Durham, New Hampshire. He earned his BA in Biology at Dartmouth College and holds a Ph.D. in Biology (Physiological Ecology) from Stanford University. Dr. Hollinger began his career in the Forest Research Institute of the New Zealand Forest Service in Christchurch, and he has continued to play a significant role in developing national research strategies related to carbon cycle science in both New Zealand and the United States. His current research focuses on the interaction between plants and their environment-including understanding how different foliage and canopy characteristics affect CO2 uptake (photosynthesis) and loss (respiration).
