Mike Lefsky

Mike Lefsky is the Director of Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Science, Department of Forest, Rangeland, and Watershed Stewardship, Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University. He is primarily interested in relating canopy structure and phenology, as measured with optical and lidar sensors, to ecosystem composition, structure, and function. The current areas of application of his work include lidar remote sensing of forest stand structure and productivity, mapping of land-use history, and monitoring regeneration following forest fires. Dr. Lefsky earned his BA in Environmental Studies at Bard College and his Ph.D. in Environmental Science at the University of Virginia. In 2007 he chaired the NEON Airborne Observation Platform Tiger Team.
