Jim Reichman

Jim Reichman is a professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His main area of research involves analyses of the impact of herbivores on plants, particularly as mediated through the spatial pattern of animal disturbances. He has recently begun experiments at the Sedgwick Reserve in California’s Santa Ynez Valley of California, exploring the role herbivores play in the interaction between native and invasive plant species. Dr. Reichman is also Director of the National Center for Ecological Analysis (NCEA), a UCSB research center designed to allow visiting scientists to use existing data to address important ecological questions. He served NEON in its initial planning sessions as co-chair of the Emerging Issues Subcommittee and, in 2007, as a member of the NEON Experiment “tiger team.”
