Dar Roberts is a Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has a double-major B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Environmental Biology and Geology, a Masters in Applied Earth Science from Stanford University, and PhD in Geology from the University of Washington. He is an expert in remote sensing, specializing in land-cover/land-use change, vegetation mapping, spectroscopy, and algorithm development. He is most recognized for his work with imaging spectroscopy and mixture models. Dr. Roberts teaches courses in advanced active and passive remote sensing, environmental optics, environmental data analysis, and historical geography.
