Joshua Schimel is a member of the Sensors and Sensor Networks subcommittee. He has served as a co-investigator on the NSF-Funded Bonanza Creek Boreal Forest and Santa Barbara Coastal LTER programs, as well as being involved in the Arctic Transitions in the Land-Atmosphere-System program. He studies soil processes and how they link with whole ecosystem dynamics, including plant productivity and trace gas emissions. He is Chair of the Environmental Studies Program and Professor of Soil and Ecosystem Ecology in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology at the University of California Santa Barbara.
