Britton B. Stephens is a scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research who has also served as a member of the NEON Tower Systems Tiger Team. His research focus-building new instruments and adapting new technologies to study the global carbon cycle-includes field work in forests, at sea, and on aircraft. His research objective is to better understand how the Earth’s biogeochemical systems, such as forests and ocean regions, respond to natural and human-induced perturbations and, ultimately, to more accurately predict and more effectively mitigate future climate change. At NCAR, he works jointly with the Earth Observing Laboratory’s Research Aviation Facility and The Institute for Multidisciplinary Earth Studies’ Biogeosciences Program.
